Decisions on the Logo for our Recording Company- By Sahar
When we were first given the task of having to find an artist and complete this product, we knew that is was vital to start from the bottom, which was to find a company, that we could do the music video for, also an artist. One of our own group members is a very talented singer and sings with passion, hence we decided on making a music video for one of her own songs. This meant that we needed to make up a recording company name, because Melina is not a professional singer (yet) and is not signed up to a real recording label.
Myself and Melina sat down and in our own time, we started coming up with names for the recording company. It was quite tricky because at first we were saying random things like The Golden Leaf, and things that are soothing around us, as we were not a fan of the rock and roll type of music; I then came up with the idea and thought why don't we pick a name associated with the genre of music that you sing. Something realistic and suitable to the singer/song writer genre. Melina and I did some further research to make sure it was a mutual decision that gets finalised for the name of our company. One of our options was Walk the Line, and we thought it was very straightforward and it sounded so perfect. We finalised it and made sure Nicole liked it too. Melina having a passion for music and having a lot of background knowledge on anything associated with music- went and found a website that she picked the font from.
Originally, the person walking on the words was another man, that came with the template, but we decided that we want our artist to be walking, therefore, on the day of our shooting, as I was behind the camera, participating with the filming, we decided to take some shots of Melina walking with the outfit she was wearing in the music video. Out of the many shots that we took, this was the one that worked well, so we cropped the man out and replaced the image of the man that came on the template with the original shot of Melina that I took.
What you see above is the final product of our logo, and we were very happy with it and all group members had input, and i believe that it is very professional looking, if it was to ever be used by Melina officially, it would be a very proud moment because a lot of hard work went into it.
